Humans are the only Species with homophobia, and were racist, if anyone is different they get picked on for being like that. They get bullied to the point of ignoring everyone which turns to isolation. Isolation turns to depression and we all know what happens after that. So why do people do this, because we can't exactly co-exist when not everyone is the same.
